Gutsy midfielder, May Mahlangu, has played in eight different countries over the course of his fascinating career, and now he's hoping to try and make history after his latest move…
Ordabasy in Kazakhstan were so impressed with the 30-year-during a loan spell from Bulgarian club, Ludogorets, last year that they decided to make his move a permanent one prior to the start of their 2020 campaign.
Obviously new environments have never been an issue for the Stars of Africa graduate as he played across the world along a road less travelled, and now, with his club making moves towards the top of the table, he'll be hoping to help them win the Kazakhstan Premier League title for the first time.
Despite having played most of his games at Helsingborg in Sweden, Mahlangu also went on to play for the likes of IFK Goteborg, Konyaspor in Turkey, Belgium's Sint-Truidense, Dinamo Bucuresti in Romania, Bulgarian giants, Ludogorets before arriving at Ordabasy on a permanent basis.
Brought up under the watchful eye of Farouk Khan, Mahlangu has played more than 300 club games since the start of 2009 when he made his bow for Helsingborg, featuring in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and several domestic tournaments over the course of the last 10 years.
Yet now, with cup wins in both Sweden and Romania under his belt, the Secunda-born midfielder will be focusing on helping Ordabasy to victory whenever football returns in Kazakhstan – though it was an indifferent start to the 2020 season as they picked up a win, a draw and a loss in their opening three games, with Mahlangu starting all three.
Evidently he will also be hoping to add to his tally of three goals from last season (he has 26 career goals in total) as the Kazakh side take aim at the top of the table, with the South African set to play a big role in helping them do so.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Mahlangu said, "The ultimate goal in every season is to achieve a silverware! And for us, hopefully qualifying for the Europa League. I'm a journeyman... The team's structural organization and overall input from everyone - technical and players has been impressive.

"The lockdown is very difficult, but that's life... We are all facing this COVID-19 around the world. We should follow the guidelines by public health principles. I miss my family, but I have to endure and soldier on."
Since Mahlangu won the Player of the Year award at Helsingborg in 2011 after playing a massive role in guiding them to the Allsvenskan trophy they're yet to win another league title.
