The 16-year-old defender - who was born in Kimberley but grew up in Belgium - recently spent some time with Manchester United at their Carrington training camp, scoring on his debut for the club, however returned to Liege shortly after.
Now, as his fledgling career continues to move forward, Groeneveld has confirmed that he has put pen to paper on a three-year professional contract with the Belgian giants.
The centre back has spent the last few years playing for KV Mechelen's youth side – even taking on the captain's armband – though he will be hoping to take his career to the next level in 2016/17 as he seeks his professional debut after confirming his new contract.
Liege finished fourth in the Belgian Pro League this past season, but are 10-time league champions and also won their seventh Belgian Cup back in March.

Groenveld, who has been likened to Raphael Varane, will be eager to impress Yannick Ferrera at his new club, and hopefully make a quick push for first team football when the new season gets underway.
