Former Bucs Star Comments On Chiefs Links

After leaving Orlando Pirates to join Highlands Park following a disappointing spell in November 2018, Mahlatse Makudubela struggled for game-time and subsequently left Mzansi shores to revive his career in Europe. The winger has now opened up on rumours linking him to Kaizer Chiefs.

Makudubela signed with Georgian second division outfit FC Gagra, along with former Mamelodi Sundowns player Jabulani Shongwe after leaving the Lions of the North in January.

However, his European dream was short-lived as the Coronavirus pandemic disrupted the season after just one game. The 30-year-old has terminated his contract abroad and will be back in the Mzansi to weigh up his options.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, former Kaizer Chiefs dribbling wizard Junior Khanye has called for the School of Excellence graduate to join Amakhosi. Khanye is of the opinion that Ernst Middendorp's side is in need of a player of his calibre.

The winger has since opened up on a possible move to Amakhosi.

"I read about it. The other day I was laughing and thought it would be nice if I could be one of the few players to play for the 'big three' teams in South Africa. I played for Sundowns and Pirates and now possibly Kaizer Chiefs.

On a serious note, it humbles me to read such things and one thing that people have different views and wishes but it's all up to the club, the technical team and what the coach wants. I've never doubted my abilities as a player and I know what I can deliver. One thing that is for sure is that we can plan all we want but God decides. Only He can do miracles," Makudubela said.

Chiefs' transfer ban could be a hindrance to a possible move happening, but 'Skudu' has revealed that he would jump at the opportunity should the Glamour Boys come calling.

"I think we all know what the answer would be. I would gladly grab the opportunity with both hands and it would be an honour for me to don the black and gold jersey and to play for a team of Chiefs' calibre. They are a team that has so much ambition and they are undoubtedly the best team in the country at the moment. They are chasing silverware not only in the PSL but also in Africa," Makudubela concluded.
