Keagan Dolly has battled through injuries over the last year or so in France and now he has discussed his future prospects as his Montpellier contract nears its end.
The 27-year-old moved to Europe just over three years ago after a successful stint with Mamelodi Sundowns, including helping the Brazilians win the domestic Absa Premiership and the CAF Champions League the year before.
With his Montpellier contract coming to an end in June 2021, Dolly is aware that he will have to overcome his injury woes, which also cost him a place in last year's Africa Cup of Nations squad with Bafana Bafana, to stay in Europe.
"Firstly I need to stay fit," the player, speaking from France during an online press conference with the SA Football Journalists Association, said.
"I definitely need to get some games and stay injury free, have a good pre-season and obviously score more goals. I think I have been lacking that. I haven't been creating a lot of opportunities when I started a few games in the past. I have been working on that and doing finishing on my own and getting into the box as much as I can."
The French Ligue 1 was cancelled two weeks ago, but with travel restricted, Dolly, who only managed six matches this season, has stayed put in Europe with his fiancé and waiting for pre-season to resume late next month.
On his future, he added: "If I am meant to stay here at Montpellier, I will be happy to. But if not, we are happy to look elsewhere just to get to a place where I can play and enjoy myself."
