After a 2019 to forget on the injury front, Keagan Dolly is pushing to win back his place at Montpellier and with Bafana Bafana – and has taken a step back from social media in an attempt to help him do so.
Last year will probably go down as the toughest in the career so far of the former Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns man, with Dolly missing out on a lot of football due to impact injuries that were effectively unavoidable for him.
The talented attacker was twice injured while on international duty with Bafana, and collisions with Montpellier also meant that he was out of action for large chunks of the year.
Now though, with a new year comes new possibilities for Dolly, and the Coronavirus outbreak and consequent suspension of football has at least allowed him time to make sure that he's fully fit, rested, and ready to return to action when Ligue 1 eventually resumes.
Soccer Laduma spoke to the Montpellier man from his home in the south of France, where he discussed his decision to delete Instagram and rather focus on his football than what others are saying or doing.
Speaking to SL from France, the 27-year-old said, "I believe that getting rid of the likes of Instagram and other social media, it just got my head clear and got me thinking about myself - not worrying what other people say.
"For me it was also a time to reflect and to think about ways to come out of the situation that I was in a better person, and to learn from all of my experiences."
