Another South African Has Moved Over To Europe - Banyana Benefit

Another South African Has Moved Over To Europe - Banyana Benefit

In what is turning out to be an exciting period for South African football in terms of movements abroad, another star has completed a switch from Mzansi to Europe…

Bambanani Mbane has racked up more than 50 caps for Banyana Banyana over the course of her international career, and made her debut at the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2019, now she'll get her shot at strutting her stuff overseas.

The 29-year-old defender completed a move to Belarusian giants, Dinamo Minsk, this week as she penned a one-year deal following a move from Bloemfontein Celtic with just a few games left of this year's SAFA National Women's League.

Speaking to SAFA.net about her move, Mbane said, "I can only thank God for this… It has long been coming and I was really patient but at some point I thought it would never happen but then the Almighty works in his own time. When the opportunity came to come this side I did not even think twice – I have been here for well over two weeks and finally I have put pen to paper.

"I am just grateful for the opportunity and will do the best I can to help them succeed. Right now the most important this is to settle quickly before the start of the league at the end of March so that I am ready. As for the jersey number, it came as a complete surprise and I could not say no to that number. I am happy I get to keep the same number as in the national team."

The defender will don the number 13 jersey, the same as what she has won for Banyana, and joins the list of players such as Thembi Kgatlana, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Linda Motlhalo and Kelso Peskin who have move to Europe in the past couple of months.
