With leagues across the world in recess during the FIFA break, Soccer Laduma looks at the best signings of the current transfer window so far in the PSL.
The log positions after five to six matches in the DStv Premiership, have been somewhat predictable, with the Brazilians boasting an eight-point lead at the top after a perfect start, as they won all their six games.

The usual suspects behind Masandawana on the log are SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates, with Golden Arrows the surprise package in second spot on the table while Kaizer Chiefs completes the top five (although they are equal on points with the Buccaneers).
In no particular order, here are the five signings who have had an impact at their clubs thus far:
Lucas Ribeiro Costa - Mamelodi Sundowns
Costa has raised the bar at Sundowns, as he's the current top goal-scorer in the league with four goals and showed he can be relied upon as a source for goals after the injury of striker Peter Shalulile.
The Brazilian also contributes immensely to the Brazilians' creativity with his ability on the ball and eye for a final pass.
Edson Castillo - Kaizer Chiefs
Castillo has brought spark and aggression that Amakhosi lacked in the previous seasons and his influence has rubbed onto other players.
The Venezuelan has shown his versatility, scoring three goals in all competitions despite playing largely as a defensive midfielder.
Patrick Maswanganyi - Orlando Pirates
Maswanganyi has hit the ground running at the Buccaneers, with his creativity in midfield yielding chances, particularly for in-form striker Zakhele Lepasa.
There are a number of Pirates fans who feel the former SuperSport United attacker should have been selected ahead of Pule Mmodi at Bafana Bafana but his let down could be he has only scored one goal in the league and another in the CAF Champions League.
Etiosa Ighodaro - SuperSport United (on loan from Sundowns)
Ighodaro has added much needed depth and youth exuberance to the United line-up, which carried only experienced strikers such as Thamsanqa Gabuza and Bradley Grobler last season.
The Nigerian striker has scored two goals in three starts for Matsatsantsa, the highest in the team, ranked ahead of Pirates and Chiefs in the standings.

Pule Mmodi - Kaizer Chiefs
Mmodi had a slow start at the Glamour Boys but he quickly made a name for himself after scoring three goals in his last three matches in all competitions.
The former Golden Arrows attacker's form earned him a spot in the Bafana Bafana squad as a replacement for Themba Zwane, who was withdrawn with a concussion injury.
