Result: Mamelodi Sundowns 1-1 Chippa United (Sundowns won 6-5 on penalties)

Date: 16 November 2024

Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

Reyaad Pieterse, Zuko Mdunyelwa, Siyanda Msani, Erwin Saavedra and Thapelo Maseko were name in the Brazilians starting line-up.

It took some time to get any sort of rhythm going before young Msani popped up at the perfect place and time and broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark.

Chippa, though, weren't overawed by it at all and duly got back on level terms five minutes after going behind to Msani's finish.

There were no more goals for the duration of the half, leaving both teams to head to the tunnel locked on even terms and all to play for in the other spell.

Both teams were cagey right at the start of the second half, with not a lot happening in so far as chances created nor shots penetrated on goal.

An inability to grab full control of proceedings weren't forthcoming throughout the course of remaining quarter, as Masandawana turned to the bench to effect dominance.

Further entries by the technical team in the final stages saw Arthur Sales, red-hot Lucas Ribeiro and Prince Khoza enter ahead of Rushine De Reuck, Sphelele Mkhulise and Mdunyelwa.

With the score level in regulation time, a penalty shoot-out were to come and Masandawana emerged victorious after converting all of their five kicks as Chippa missed once.
