Golden Arrows have suffered a 10th loss in a row after going down 1-0 to Sekhukhune United on Wednesday night.

DStv Premiership

Result: Golden Arrows 0-1 Sekhukhune United

Date: 28 February 2024

Venue:  Mpumalanga Stadium

Arrows made four changes following their Nedbank Cup defeat to TS Galaxy, as Sbonelo Cele, Nqobeko Dlamini, Angelo Van Rooi and Knox Mutizwa were recalled.

Sekhukhune, meanwhile, made wholesale changes following their draw against RSB Berkane in the CAF Confederation Cup, as the regulars, the likes of Daniel Cardoso, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Nyiko Mobbie, Elias Mokwana and Chibuike Ohizu were brought back.

Abafana Bes'thende were all over Babina Noko in the opening exchanges with numerous shots at goal but they were not accurate enough.

Sekhukhune were biding their time and had a crack at goal on 18 minutes after Ohizu had a shot that was saved by goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana.

However, Mabhuti Khenyeza's troops continued to have the ascendancy and with ten minutes left of the first stanza, Nduduzo Sibiya came close to breaking the deadlock with a strike from range that was repelled by goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare.

However, Sekhukhune had a stronger resistance in the closing phase of the first stanza as they defended deep and the sides went to the half-time break goalless.

Lehlohonolo Seema's men had a different approach coming from the interval as they were more on the front foot but they were not getting clear-cut opportunities.

Arrows were subdued up until the 73rd minute after Moyela Libamba came close to breaking the deadlock with a strike that was smothered by Sangare.

Sekhukhune had a stronger finish in the latter phase, as the game opened up and Mokwana eventually snatched the winner for Babina Noko in the last minute with a strike in the box that found the bottom corner.

The win took Sekhukhune up to eighth on the table.

Here's how they lined up:

Golden Arrows: Mlungwana, Cele , Mwengani, Shitolo, Lukhele, Mthanti, Mutizwa, Van Rooi, Dlamini, Zwane, Sibeko

Subs: Kayode, Cross, Ndlovu , Tlolane, Ncube, Libamba , Hlatshwayo, Mhlongo, Sibiya
