Orlando Pirates have provided a crucial update on the threatening injury suffered by Paseka Mako in last night's DStv Premiership match against Baroka FC.
Mako had to be rushed off the field in an ambulance after a nasty collision with his Pirates teammate and goalkeeper Richard Ofori who was clearing the ball.
After the match, Bucs' co-coach Fadlu Davids said the players were not in the right state of mind to continue with the match after seeing their teammate in a bad condition.
Match referee Masixole Bambiso called the game off at the Peter Mokaba Stadium with about 10 minutes to go.
The encounter ended 0-0 as the Buccaneers attempted to move up the log for a chance to finish at least in second place at the end of the season, and with Baroka fighting for their lives to save the club's topflight status.
Pirates have since issued a statement confirming the latest on the 28-year-old versatile player's condition.
"Following the emergency injury involving defender Paseka Mako in the DStv Premiership clash against Baroka FC last night, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the 28-year-old is in a stable condition," confirmed Pirates on the club's official website.
"The doctor has revealed that CT scan results have shown no signs of skull fracture or any brain haemorrhage however, the player has sustained fracture to the face and nose. He will remain in High Care and will be assessed by the neurosurgeon again this morning," read the statement.
