Orlando Pirates Goal & Assist Charts

Orlando Pirates Goal & Assist Charts

We look at the Orlando Pirates goal and assist charts and see that four attacking players are in double figures for goal contributions this campaign.

With seven league games for Pirates to play as they chase their first league title since 2011, there is still a chance to bolster these scoring and creating figures. Bucs have scored 59 goals this term in their 39 games in all competitions, a ratio of 1.51 goals per game. This is more than Chiefs (1.45 goals per game) and Sundowns (1.38 per game).

Pirates' top scorers:

Justin Shonga – 12

Thembinkosi Lorch – 11

Vincent Pule – 7

Augustine Mulenga – 5

Kudakwashe Mahachi – 3

Linda Mntambo – 3

Xola Mlambo – 1

This season, Pirates have had 18 different goalscorers, with nine of those players registering on just a single occasion – that includes striker, Thamsanga Gabuza.

Bucs' attacking foursome of Shonga, Mulenga, Lorch and Pule have scored 35 times between them, 59% of the side's goals. The top scorer at this stage is Justin Shonga, who has 12 goals in total, including 11 goals in his last 23 appearances. He has only registered five times in the PSL though, with five more goals in CAF Champions League and two in domestic cup competitions. Lorch is breathing down his neck with 11 goals in the race for the club's own top scorer award.

Pirates' top assist providers:

Augustine Mulenga – 8

Justin Shonga – 7

Vincent Pule – 6

Thembinkosi Lorch – 5

Xola Mlambo – 5

Thamsanga Gabuza – 4

Linda Mntambo – 3

Luvuyo Memela – 3

In the goal creation stakes, Augustine Mulenga leads the way with eight assists. With just five goals scored, his goal creation has been the most impressive side of his game this season. Shonga is next with seven assists, aided by being the club's designated set-piece taker from both shooting and crossing areas.

Gabuza (4) and Memela (3) have both produced good numbers considering their low respective minutes this season for various reasons.

Pirates have had 17 different players create a goal this season across their 59 goals. Lorch's five assists is a surprisingly low total, although he has also added six "second assists" – the pass before the final ball/touch.
