Magents: I Think Orlando Pirates' Mandla Ncikazi Acknowledges His Mistake

Orlando Pirates' 1995 CAF Champions League-winning captain Edward 'Magents' Motale has accepted the apology of Mandla Ncikazi after the club's co-coach insinuated that Pirates sign sub-standard players.

Ncikazi compared Pirates' transfer dealings to shopping at Pick n Pay, while DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns buy top of the range at Woolworths.

These remarks caused a stir in the country and didn't sit well with the Bucs supporters and Motale. The Pirates co-coach has since issued an apology to the club.

"I accept the apology from the coach even though I didn't take his comments well. I think he acknowledges his mistake, that he messed up," Motale told the Siya crew.

"It was uncalled for and unprofessional as you cannot as a coach at Pirates say we are buying players at Pick n Pay or Spar and others [Sundowns at Woolworths]. We all don't have the same economic power," added the former Bucs defender.

Motale, who led Pirates to the 1995 Champions League glory, went on to urge the players to remain focused ahead of the CAF Confederations Cup return leg against Libyan side Al Ahli Tripoli at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

The Soweto giants won the first leg in Libra 2-0 last week.

"The players must just worry about their performances and winning matches and trophies for the club," he said.
