Kerr: Pirates Must Kick & Slap Otladisa

Former Marumo Gallants head coach Dylan Kerr has explained why working with new Orlando Pirates signing Katlego Otladisa was "annoying" during his time at the Limpopo side.

Otladisa is one of the new signings made by Pirates in the off-season after impressing at Gallants for a couple of seasons and was sold to the Buccaneers following Bahlabane Ba Ntwa's relegation from the DStv Premiership last season.

Kerr, who coached the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder at Gallants last term, says Otladisa is so talented that it "annoyed" and "frustrated" him that he could not play to his full potential.

"He's a good player, he's annoying and frustrating because what he can do on the ball I wish I had a third of his talent, he's that good but he's unpredictable, you don't know if you're gonna get a good day from him or you gonna get the worst day from him," Kerr said on Playing the Field with Shakes YouTube Channel.

"Unfortunately for me when I was at Gallants, (he) was someone who could play in Europe, I saw somebody who could light up any football team with his ability.

"But that's in training and I hope that now that he's at Pirates he will show his full potential. But he was so annoying for me as a coach because you would play him because of what he did in training, which was beat people, coming inside on his right foot, score goals. Yet when he played (matches he could not replicate that)," he said.

The English tactician went on and gave the Pirates coaches advice on how to get the best out of Otladisa.

"When he gets hungry, when somebody incites him in a nasty way, then you get the best out of Otladisa," he revealed.

"So, if I could give any advice to the coach, before he plays kick him hard and even slap him because then you'll get the true player," he added.
