The talk of Nedbank Cup finalist Dan Malesela potentially joining Orlando Pirates in this transfer window has been dismissed.
As the Buccaneers had been expected to decide on beleaguered co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids regarding their future, the number of potential candidates for the coaching job at the Soweto giants has been increasing.
Pirates have since confirmed parting ways with Davids who has been with the club since 2019.
Former AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy, four-time league-winning ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United coach Gavin Hunt, as well as experienced Dutch tactician Ruud Krol and Algerian mentor Adel Amrouche are some of the coaches to have been linked with the Buccaneers.
With Malesela having led Marumo Gallants to the final of the Nedbank Cup where they lost narrowly against Mamelodi Sundowns, talk in the fraternity has been that Bucs could consider adding the mentor who is the club's former captain to their roster.
However, indications from sources close to Gallants are that the Limpopo outfit isn't willing to entertain any offers for Malesela at this stage, with the club preparing for a return to the CAF Confederation Cup and building on their 10th place finish in the DStv Premiership for a better 2022/23 season.
"I can confirm that Marumo Gallants are saying hands off their Dan Malesela to anyone who thinks the coach is available for a move. The club is still having plans for the coach for next season and he is part of the preparations for pre-season and player movements and everything," said the source.
