Chiefs Deals That Can Happen Before Transfer Deadline

Chiefs Deals That Can Happen Before Transfer Deadline

With the new Premiership season getting underway this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs enter the new campaign with shortcomings that still need to be addressed in the transfer market before the window closes next week.

Left back issues

Chiefs were left exposed in a pre-season friendly against Young Africans after they played youngster Nkosana Mbuthu at left-back, following the injury of Bongani Sam and Edmilson Dove, which showed Happy Mashiane may not be in the immediate plans of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Although Amakhosi have signed Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows, they are still in the market for a natural and experienced left-back.

Riaan Hanamub (AmaZulu)

"Definitely [we're keen], another top player, it's always weird talking about players who belong to other clubs. But I think he [Hanamub] has done tremendously well. I don't think we're the only club interested in him," Amakhosi Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr confirmed on 947 Joburg YouTube Channel.

Fawaaz Basadien (Stellenbosch)

"Everyone is talking about Stellies players, again, a top talent, it was great to see him in the international fold, he's got great attributes and I don't think there would be another team in the country who wouldn't want Basadien," Motaung Jr confirmed on 947.

Wingers

Chiefs have been chasing Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis since the opening of the transfer window but have had bids rejected.

Motaung Jr, on 947, also admitted to having had discussions with City Chairman Johnny Mogaladi and the biggest issue appears to be consensus on the transfer fee or the valuation of the Bafana Bafana winger.

The Glamour Boys have also had a bid rejected for Cape Town City winger Asanele Velebayi.

Strikers

Amakhosi, after their woes in front of goal last season, are yet to sign a striker, with only Gaston Sirino the only addition upfront.

"We're hard at work, we're not gonna sign anyone for the sake of signing anyone, we've looked at many candidates, that process is ongoing. It is an area we definitely wanna strengthen, that's a no brainer," Motaung Jr said when asked about striker signings.

The PSL transfer window closes on 20 September.
