Bandile Shandu Closing In On Orlando Pirates Move After Leaving Maritzburg United

A utility player who has emerged as one of the hottest properties in Mzansi from the 2020/21 season is expected to be unveiled at Orlando Pirates, this after he parted ways with his club.

After spending nine years with Maritzburg United since he was promoted from the club's juniors in 2012, Bandile Shandu has parted ways with the Team of Choice, as confirmed by the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

As reported by the Siya crew, Shandu emerged as a target for Pirates, following the acquisition of Mandla Ncikazi as the member of the technical team at the Buccaneers.

Shandu, 26, made 22 appearances in the league for the Pietermaritzburg-based side in the 2020/21 season.

Shandu can play as an attacking midfielder, right-winger or as a wing-back and has previously worked with Ncikazi at Maritzburg between February 2014 and September 2015, while he also played under Pirates assistant coach Fadlu Davids when he coached at the Team of Choice.

In addition, the Pietermaritzburg-born player is set to reunite with his former teammates in the likes of Richard Ofori, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Fortune Makaringe at Bucs.

Shandu had also been linked with a move to Golden Arrows when Ncikazi was the coach of the KZN side.

Shandu has joined the likes of Kwanda Mngonyama, Jethren Barr, Daniel Morgan and Dusan Stevic out of the Team of Choice.
