Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has been applauded for his management style regarding coaches that work for the club.
An aspiring coach these days, and having played for Pirates at the prime of his professional career, ex-striker James Mothibi says he learnt a lot about the game from the Buccaneers boss, who is also the chairman of the PSL.
"Do you know what Dr Irvin Khoza once said? It was when we played for Orlando Pirates, and that's why I respect Dr Irvin Khoza. He said, and telling all the guys, 'If I give a coach an opportunity to coach, don't interfere. Once you interfere and then the coach fails, who are you going to say failed? That's what I like about Dr Khoza, he supports his coaches. He is always 100% behind his coaches.' I respect Dr Khoza and he respects me, and that's why today I can go to Pirates without an invitation or appointment," said Mothibi.
With his passion for the game and the experience he has gained over the years, Mothibi has been working on helping aspiring footballers from the Northern Cape and wherever else he can, to follow their dreams like he did when he came from Warrenton and went all the way to one of the big clubs in Mzansi.
