Sundowns V Pirates Expected To Be A Thrilling Game

Former Mamelodi Sundowns player, Zane Moosa, has advised Orlando Pirates to aim to continue from the performance of their second round league game against the Chloorkoop outfit as a motivation, if they are to have any chance of advancing to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

In that game, Mpho Makola scored Pirates' consolation goal in their 2-1 loss against Sundowns in February.

"You have seen that Pirates have had a tough draw. They played Chiefs and beat them. Now they are getting Sundowns. Pirates have improved. You can see they have moved up the log. They are 7th on the log.

"You see the rise of (Tendai) Ndoro and he has made the difference. He scored four goals in the two cup games (against Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos). (Mpho) Makola in the midfield has made the difference in terms of creativity. It's a cup game and anything can happen.

"But Sundowns have had Pirates' number this season. They beat them twice. Pirates will have to take from that second half of their second round league game. They came back and played better in that second half of that game. I remember the free kick that Makola scored.

"If you look at Sundowns and how they got through, they struggled against Highlands Park and Mbombela United. It's a big game and all eyes will be on them. The stage will be set and there will be a decent crowd. I don't know where they will play. Probably, they will play at Loftus or wherever, maybe at Lucas Moripe. But the last time (when Sundowns were the hosts) they played at Loftus," said Moosa.

The Brazilians will host the Buccaneers in the quarter-finals of this year's Nedbank Cup. The games will be played on the weekend of 23-24 April.
