"Be careful what you wish for!", says Steve Komphela, issuing a warning to the other coaches out there that could be looking to replace him at Kaizer Chiefs.

Komphela's future at Naturena is up in the air at present as he approaches the end of his current contract with the Glamour Boys, and speculation has been rife about who could potentially replace him if he isn't offered a new deal there.
Names such as Luc Eymael, Doctor Khumalo and Nikola Kavazovic have all been thrown into the hat of late, although there has been no official communication from the club regarding next season at this point.
Speaking to the media this week ahead of tonight's Nedbank Cup quarterfinal against Baroka – possibly his last chance for silverware with the club – the 50-year-old says that he's being realistic about the way forward.
When asked about keeping things together despite the rumours, he replied, "I don't downplay things and I am realistic. The fact remains that I have a job and duty to perform at Chiefs as a professional until the last second. With regards to outside, there is nothing wrong with that. Everybody wants the best positions. When people feel they would want to do it, that's nice. There is nothing wrong with that.

]"But sometimes it baffles you when a colleague declares things that are tempting to respond to. One thing my parents taught me is to refrain. They said if you feel that what you are about to say might not be positive, zip your mouth. I chose to keep my mouth zipped."
He wasn't finished there though, adding, "Just a warning to my colleagues… Be careful what you wish for. Ambition kills. Leadership must be given and not demanded. Anybody who goes for power and demands power must be careful how power might handle them. Power shall be given and never taken because there might be resistance and where there is resistance there is conflict."
Chiefs face Baroka tonight as they look to progress to the semifinals of the cup, with Komphela desperate to go all the way and bring a trophy back to Naturena.
