Happy Mashiane
Ernst Middendorp has talked up Kaizer Chiefs' 'new signing' after he made his debut in the Nedbank Cup win over Tornado FC this weekend. Read: Why Billiat Missed Chiefs' Close Shave... Happy Mashiane only signed his first professional contract last week, but he was thrown straight into the deep end by Middendorp as he was named in the starting XI for the Round of 32 clash in East London. The 21-year-old came in at left back as the German looked to put out an offensive team to get the job done against Tornado, but came off in the 55th minute as Chiefs struggled to break down the ABC Motsepe League side. But Middendorp was happy with 'Vavo' on his debut, and speaking to SuperSport after the game, he said, "He had a bit of cramping (at) the end of the day, but he's a player where I saw the potential already quite early, and how is he doing? I think we can be very, very happy with something like this. We have a good new signing for our squad, no doubt." It remains to be seen whether the youngster will keep his place this week when Chiefs take on an in-form Cape Town City as Absa Premiership action resumes.
