Hendrick Ekstein: 6.5/10

Soccer Laduma selects the six best and four worst performers following Kaizer Chiefs' 1-0 win over Baroka FC in the Nedbank Cup.

Best:   Hendrick Ekstein: 8/10   Ekstein got Amakhosi going forward with pace and was quick on the ball and came close to scoring on a few occasions, eventually scooping the Man of the Match award.   Erick Mathoho: 7/10   Mathoho was rock solid at the back and he used his aerial advantage effectively for the crucial goal to break the deadlock.   Siphiwe Tshabalala: 7/10   Shabba was always a threat going forward for Chiefs on the night. He delivered the crucial assist for Mathoho's goal.   Talent Chawapiwa: 7/10   Chawapiwa was a handful for Chiefs on the right wing. He sent some inviting crosses into the area and he showed a lot of skill on the ball.   Gift Motupa: 7/10   Motupa was somehow given a lot of space to launch attacks for Baroka and he was unlucky not to have scored when he tried to chip Itumeleng Khune from around 40-yards out.   Leonardo Castro: 7/10   Castro was a good point of reference for Chiefs in attack but could not get enough openings to test Baroka goalkeeper Ayanda Dlamini.   Worst:   Matome Kgoetyane: 4/10   Kgoetyane was shaky at the back throughout the night. His clearances were not convincing.   Robin Ngalande: 4/10   Ngalande was surprisingly quiet up front and hardly had a touch inside the Chiefs box.   Letladi Madubanya: 4/10   Madubanya may have the experience but he was not at his best in the Baroka midfield.   Mduduzi Mdantsane: 5/10   Mdantsane did not come to the party. He usually makes the team tick but in this match, he was too deep and ineffective as a result.
