Banyana Banyana captain, Janine van Wyk admitted that she thought it was unfair that FIFA decided to use VAR at the Women's World Cup.
The use of VAR is still in the process of being implemented in all the top European leagues, with the English Premier League welcoming its use for the first time next season.

However, the Video Assistant Referee was used in the FIFA Women's World Cup, with Van Wyk revealing that she thought that it was unfair to 'test' it in the tournament.
"It was highly unfair to test the VAR out at a Women's World Cup where referees and the VAR system was not as experienced, it has just been introduced in to the UEFA league, it hasn't even reached Premier League yet and I just think that they just threw it out there to test at the Women's World Cup which I feel was unfair. But, at the end of the day it is what it is, it is going to be there and not taken away we have to just accept it," she said.
