After landing in South Africa after the FIFA Women's World Cup, Desiree Ellis is confident that her side has returned with great experience despite the result.
Banyana Banyana made their exit from the group stages of the World Cup in France recently, however, the Banyana head coach revealed that one of the ways the Women's national team can improve, is if they were all competing at the highest level week in week out, by playing in a national league or playing abroad.
"We showed with our conditioning that we are right up there with the rest of the world, we are very close. We have to improve on a lot of things ourselves, in the game itself," Ellis said.
"One of the bigger things is to be clinical in front of goal. But the experience gained is second to none. We need to go out especially at the COSAFA Cup and show what we've learn at the World Cup.
"We don't have a professional league, a national league is anticipated to start but my biggest hope is that the players get overseas contracts. You look at the Nigerian and Cameroon team, a lot of the players play abroad," she added.
Ellis will use the Women's World Cup exit as experience gained, for the upcoming COSAFA Cup tournament.
