Bongani Zungu And Dean Furman Talks About The Africa Cup Of Nations Campaign

Bongani Zungu And Dean Furman Talks About The Africa Cup Of Nations Campaign

Both Dean Furman and Bongani Zungu have revealed how proud they are of the South African national team despite being unable to go all the way in the Africa Cup Of Nations competition.

Bafana Bafana exited the AFCON campaign in the quarterfi-nals after defeat to Nigeria and after an impressive performance against Egypt in the last 16, there were certain expectations about how far the country could have went in the tournament.

However, both Zungu and Furman are proud of what the team has accomplished on Africa's biggest stage.

"I am very happy and proud of what the team has accomplished in the tournament. You know as the coach said, we played against the powerhouse of African football. It was not easy games, and we didn't have the best of preparations before the tournament but I am very proud of the team and looking forward to the future and believe in the process. Personally I am proud and hopefully we will move forward and try our best to qualify for more major tournaments and compete," Zungu told the media.

"I won't touch on individual games but what I will say is - the nice thing to come out of that is that if people on the continent didn't know us before they certainly do now and maybe before the Egypt game they didn't know about Bongani and about Tau but they certainly do know now and the whole Africa knows about Bafana Bafana and that was something great that we can take from the AFCON whether we won it or not," Furman added.
