Kaizer Chiefs legend, Banks Setlhodi, has named his favourite players from the 1970s and 1980s, which he considers to be a golden age of South African football.
Malatsi: My First Salary At Chiefs Was R1 200
The 69-year-old was a Kaizer Chiefs mainstay during the 70s and the 80s, before going on to coach the Soweto giants and etching his name into the annals of South African football forever. He played alongside and against many of the best players to ever grace our football pitches. He said that he had difficulty selecting his favourite XI, but revealed his best team to Soccer Laduma in spite of the quality players he had to choose from.
"There was a crop of good players back then. We had so many good players, I'm going to leave so many great players (out)," he told Soccer Laduma.
"During our era, each team had four to five great players in the 70s and early 80s," he continued. "When you played for Pirates, there were more than six of the best players there and you come to Chiefs and almost all of them were masters of their positions, and if you went to Durban, you were still going to find great players there."
