Riveiro's Dare To Pirates Players After Derby Defeat

Riveiro's Dare To Pirates Players After Derby Defeat

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed that they are done with the post-mortem of their defeat against Kaizer Chiefs and they can't wait to "get rid of that feeling".

Riveiro lost his first Soweto Derby against fierce rivals Kaizer Chiefs this past weekend and says that the coaching staff have been critical of their performance but they are ready to move on ahead of the MTN8 final against AmaZulu on Saturday.

"We have to analyze the reasons that didn't allow us to get a good result in our last match, we did the job, we analyzed the reasons with the players," Riveiro told members of the media in a pre-match press conference.

"Usually winning or losing we're (critical) of ourselves in order to improve, that's the only way. Obviously when you don't get a good result you go deeper, because you're angry, you're disappointed.

"So as coaches and playing staff we want to change the situation as soon as possible and we know because we're all experienced about these type of process, players and coaches that we need to put even more emphasis on the small details in order to be again the team that we want to be," he said.

"It was impossible to be in our best version the previous game, even though it was version good enough to get a better result and we know it as well. We don't analyze the result usually, we try to learn from our performance."

The Spanish mentor went on to emphasize that they can't wait to get that losing feeling off their system and his players need to start responding at training and not wait for the final on Saturday.

"Like I said before, all of us we're competitive people, we're not good losers, to be honest, none of us, so when we're involved in one defeat like last time obviously you wanna get rid of that feeling as soon as possible," Riveiro went on.

"The sooner is the first training session today (Wednesday), so we need to, if we say we want to be a different team on Saturday we need to show it today, there's no reason to wait for Saturday, we have to do it today, tomorrow and after tomorrow.

"Like I said, players and coaching staff we're not happy with the last result and the only way we have to get rid of that feeling is competing again and until we have a chance to compete, train like top, that's what we're going to do this week," he added.
