MTN8 Quarter-final Report: Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 MP Black Aces

MTN8 Quarter-final

Full Time: Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 MP Black Aces

Date: 3 August 2014

Venue: FNB Stadium

Goals from Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Kingston Nkhatha and a brace from Mandla Masango saw Kaizer Chiefs beat MP Black Aces 4-0 in an MTN8 quarterfinal match at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It was the perfect start for the Amakhosi who had a two goal lead within the opening five minutes of the match.

Chiefs were on fire from the word go and scored in the second minute when a quick one-two saw George Lebese play Reneilwe Letsholonyane into space on the edge of the box and he produced clinical finish into the bottom left corner, 1-0.

Three minutes later Kingston Nkhatha doubled his side's lead with an emphatic 22-yard volley that rattled the underside of the crossbar before finding the back of the net, 2-0.

The Aces defence was at sixes and sevens, and the Amakhosi should have scored their third in the 16th minute, but somehow from only a couple yards out George Maluleka missed.

Initially, Nkhatha broke behind the Aces defence, but saw his shot from an acute angle on the right strike the post before Maluleka skewed the rebound wide from close range.

Aces tried to find their way back into the game, but were unable to do so as Chiefs continued to dictate play – the home side probably should have scored a couple more goals before the break, but their finishing let them down.

The second half started a little slowly, but Chiefs made sure of the win with their third goal on the hour mark when Mandla Masango broke through on goal, rounded the keeper and poked the ball home, 3-0.

Masango bagged his second goal in the 90th minute after breaking through on goal once more and making no mistake with a deadly finish, 4-0.

Chiefs move into the semifinals of the MTN8 alongside Bidvest Wits, Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates.

Here is how they started:
