The top two teams in the 2014/15 PSL season, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, look to be continuing their dominance in this campaign as they were the teams that dominated the passing statistics in the quarter final round of the MTN8.

Chiefs came from behind to beat Maritzburg 5-3 after 120 minutes of football, while Downs crashed out on penalties to Bloemfontein Celtic losing 4-2 after a 1-1 draw.
The Amakhosi were able to string together 526 passes out of 612, an impressive pass completion rate of 85,95%. The Brazilians where the other team that showed dominance in the passing department during their encounter with Celtic, completing 525 of their attempted 609 passes, at a rate of 86,21%.
In comparison Maritzburg completed 309 of their 382 passes (80,89%) while Celtic could only string together 264 out of 336 attempted passes (78,57%).
The other two games we're more evenly matched with Bidvest Wits completing 277 out of 353 attempted passes (78,47%) in their 3-1 (aet) win over SuperSport united, who completed 240 out of 333 passes (72,07%).
In the only quarter final game that didn't go to extra time Orlando Pirates outgunned Ajax Cape Town in the passing department but still crashed out of the competition losing 1-0. Pirates completed 400 of their 488 passes (81,97) in 90 minutes, while Ajax strung together 301 of their attempted 386 passes (77,98%).
Notably Chiefs and Downs where the only teams in the quarter final stages of the MTN8 to complete more than 500 passes, with an impressive 526 and 525 respectively.
