La Liga
Teams: Granada V Barcelona
Venue: Estadio Los Carmenes
Barcelona will be determined to close the gap on Real Madrid as they travel to relegation-battlers, Granada, today.
The Catalans suffered defeat at the hands of Malaga in their last match, but bounced back with a win in the Champions League against Manchester City in the Champions League in the midweek fixture. They have won five of their previous six La Liga matches.
Messi's Impressive Record Against Granada
Granada, meanwhile, have only won one of their previous six games in La Liga and sit 19th on the table. Five of the past six meetings between the two teams have ended in victory for Barcelona, but Granada shocked Gerardo Martino's Barcelona in their last trip to Estadio Los Carmenes in April last year, with a 1-0 victory.
Lionel Messi has scored seven goals in his six matches against Granada and will be hoping to end his run of two matches without a goal.
In team news, Barcelona will be without the suspended Gerard Pique and defenders, Douglas and Thomas Vermaelen.
Granada's absentee list is packed with suspended players, including Emanuel Insúa, Juan Carlos,, Youssef El-Arabi, and Adrián Colunga. Piti and Jeisen Murillo are out with injury.
If Granada can get anything out of this game, it may play a pivotal role in this season's title race, as well as the battle for relegation, but Luis Enrique will be hoping for a routine victory.
