Swallows will be hoping their revival under coach Dylan Kerr continues when they host TS Sporting in the Nedbank Cup last 32 on Saturday afternoon.
Teams: Swallows v TS Sporting
Date: 05 February 2022
Swallows have improved since Kerr replaced Brandon Truter early in the season, although they are still in 14th on the DStv Premiership standings, just one point above the relegation zone.
The Birds will also be hoping Kerr brings his lucky charm, as he won the competition as a coach for Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila last year, who actually eliminated Swallows in the last 16 en route to being crowned champions.
Swallows last won the tournament in 2009 under former coach Julio Cesar Leal.
Similarly, Abantu Bemthetho are also struggling in the GladAfrica Championship and will be hoping returning coach Benson Mhlongo can turn their fortunes around, starting with the Nedbank Cup.
Sporting have lost four consecutive league matches and like Swallows, find themselves 14th on the table, just a point above the relegation zone.
Abantu Bemthetho reached the round of 16 last year and could not progress any further after they were eliminated by Richards Bay.
