The Brazilians returned from the mid-season break with a bang, as they progressed to the Nedbank Cup round of 16 after drubbing GladAfrica Championship side Richards Bay 4-0 on Friday.
However, Sundowns will be looking to return to winning ways in the league after ending the 2021 calendar year as their first defeat of the campaign against AmaZulu was followed up by a 1-1 draw against Marumo Gallants.
The Tshwane giants have already introduced new signings Bradley Ralani and Teboho Mokoena in the Nedbank Cup and are still to debut another newcomer, Bolivia international Erwin Saavedra, after co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi confirmed his signing last week.

The Chilli Boys, meanwhile, also got back to action on Friday in the Nedbank Cup but they were dumped out in the first round by second-tier side University of Pretoria, who won 2-0.
However, Chippa were on a four-game unbeaten run in the league before the recess after they were held to a goalless stalemate by Sekhukhune United, as they moved up to 12th on the standings, just three points above the relegation zone.
The Chilli Boys will be hoping to cause an upset after holding Sundowns to a goalless draw in the first-round meeting in August last year in Gqeberha.
