DStv Compact Cup Starting XI: Warriors v Amabutho 22 January 2022

Warriors will be looking to set the inaugural DStv Compact Cup alight when they clash with Amabutho in the semi-finals on Saturday evening

Teams: Warriors v Amabutho

Date: 22 January 2022

Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium

Time: 18h00

Warriors is arguably the strongest team on paper in the tournament, as the four teams from Inland Group 2 includes Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Swallows, with TS Galaxy completing the section.

However, since the line-up was voted for by fans, in the case of Warriors, it's dominated by Pirates and Chiefs players, with Thabo Matlaba making the cut as the only player not playing for the Buccaneers or Amakhosi.

In goal, Dylan Kerr's charges have Itumeleng Khune, while Njabulo Ngcobo and Happy Jele will have a new partnership in the heart of defence.

Thembinkosi Lorch headlines the midfield while Keagan Dolly will be the main attraction upfront, alongside rejuvenated Kwame Peprah.

Usuthu dominate the Amabutho line-up, with goalkeeper Veli Mothwa getting the nod, former Pirates players, Luvuyo Memela, Thabo Qalinge and Augustine Mulenga, who will partner Thwihli Thwahla striker Victor Letsoalo upfront, in the starting team.

Amabutho will be coached by Ernst Middendorp, who will be assisted by Abram Nteo, with Benni McCarthy, Lehlohonolo Seema and John Maduka beefing up the technical team as advisors.
