Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane says he is focused on improving the 'Mshishi' of last season' after netting a hat-trick against AmaZulu.
Mamelodi Sundowns star midfielder Themba Zwane has commented on whether he can replicate the form that saw him being crowned the league's best player last season.
Zwane stole the show after a netting a first-half hat-trick in Sundowns' 4-3 win over AmaZulu at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday afternoon.
The match-winning display comes a few days after he bagged two goals for Bafana Bafana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
"Obviously I want to thank my teammates, we did well, as a player I want to score more, create more chances. I want to work for my team," Zwane said on SuperSport TV after accepting his Man of the Match award.
'Mshishi' also addressed shirt incident where he received a yellow card for leaving the pitch without permission.
"To be honest I was not aware [permission to change a the shirt] because they were putting us under pressure so I wanted to change quickly. But ja it's my mistake and I apologise to the coaches," he said.
When asked about winning back-to-back Footballer of the Year awards, he added, "I'm focusing on improving the 'Mshishi' of last season, trying to get more goals, more assists, help my team to win trophies," he added.
