There has been no movement in the situation of midfielder Luvuyo Phewa at Mamelodi Sundowns, but the reason for the silence has been revealed.
Phewa is back at Sundowns after spending last season on loan to Motsepe Foundation Championship club University of Pretoria. The former national unuder-20 midfielder was a key component in the team as they qualified for the end of season play-offs.
As reported in edition 1290 of Soccer Laduma, Phewa is recovering after undergoing surgery on an injury and a decision on what happens next with him is expected to be made soon.
"He is recovering from a minor operation. He is still at Sundowns. I think a lot will now depend on his recovery. We want to make sure that his recovery is done properly. It's nothing major, it's only minor. And then from there, we will have a look at what we are going to do. He is talented and we have got to make sure that his career develops properly," his agent Mike Makaab told the Siya crew.
The club could decide to loan him out for another season. He has already had loan spells with Tuks and Chippa United since joining Sundowns from Real Kings in 2020.
Some of the Sundowns players who have gone out on loan are Grant Margeman, Ricardo Goss, Thabang Sibanyoni, Malebogo Modise and Nyiko Mobbie.
