A decision has been made on the future of a Mamelodi Sundowns striker as the club makes final touches to its squad for the second round of the season.
Having played for Sekhukhune United on loan from Sundowns in the first round of the season, Thabang Sibanyoni was one of the players released from Babina Noko after he was no longer in the plans of the team's head coach MacDonald Makhubedu and his technical team.
Sibanyoni, 26, had been with Sekhukhune since the club's days in the GladAfrica Championship last season and had his loan deal extended after the progress he made with the Gauteng-based Limpopo outfit on their way to promotion to the elite league.
It was while playing for Sekhukhune that the Downs' development product earned a call-up to Bafana Bafana's Cosafa Cup squad that went on to win the competition last year.
"A deal has been agreed for Thabang Sibanyoni to play for the University of Pretoria for the remainder of the season. It's a loan deal from Sundowns, as he is still their player," said the source.
Contacted for comment, Sibanyoni confirmed the latest developments to the Siya crew and said, "Yes, I am with Tuks now."
