CAF Have Confirmed Return For Sundowns, Chiefs And Pirates To Interclubs Competitions

Mamelodi Sundowns

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the return of Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to Interclubs competitions next season.

Following the crowning of Sundowns as the Absa Premiership champions yesterday (Saturday), with Chiefs and Pirates finishing in second and third place respectively, the three of the country's big clubs are set to compete in the CAF competitions, as confirmed by CAF.

Sundowns and Chiefs will compete in the Champions League for finishing in first and second place respectively on the log, while Pirates for finishing third and Bloemfontein Celtic as the finalists of the Nedbank Cup (as Sundowns have already qualified for the other competition) will compete in the Confederation Cup.

"Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are all coming back for Interclubs competitions next season. Early predictions?" CAF confirmed on Twitter.

Sundowns lost to Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the quarter-finals of this year's Champions League in March, while Bidvest Wits were beaten in the group sages in January by Guinean side Horoya.
