Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso made wholesale changes following the draw against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8, as Ronwen Williams was the only player retained from Saturday's clash, as Peter Shalulile got his first start of the campaign while there was a debut for Gomolemo Kekana.
It was evenly contested affair in the early stages, with Magesi signalling their attacking intent early on by forcing Williams into a couple good saves inside the opening ten minutes.
The flurry of changes certainly had an effect on the Sundowns outfit, who struggled to carve out any clear-cut chances despite enjoying more of the possession as the first half went on.
Magesi suffered a blow ten minutes before the halftime break as Tshepo Makgoga was forced off with an injury and replaced by Lehlogonolo Mokone, who almost made the perfect impact when his towering header crashed against the upright minutes later.
Coach Cardoso responded with a change at the start of the second half as Thapelo Maseko got a rare appearance by replacing Kekana, whose senior team debut ended after 45 minutes.
Maseko almost made the perfect impact just before the hour mark as he raced onto a pass from Kutlwano Letlhaku before seeing his effort saved by Chipezeze, as the visitors increased the tempo.
It was more of the same in the second half, as the Brazilians dominated possession without creating much in the final third, which prompted Cardoso to introduce Thapelo Morena, Tashreeq Matthews and Marcelo Allende.
However, Sundowns got the breakthrough on 73 minutes when a goal-mouth scramble ended with Jayden Adams poking the ball home from close-range for his first league goal of the campaign.
Magesi's hopes of a comeback were dashed with ten minutes to play after being reduced to ten players when Lehlohonolo Mtshali was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Matthews.
Sundowns made the game safe in the final two minutes as Shalulile got his name on the score-sheet with a lovely finish, which sees the Namibian equal Siyabonga Nomvethe's PSL all-time scoring record with 129 goals.
