A long-time Kaizer Chiefs supporter has backed the petition by a small faction of fans to have Stuart Baxter sacked as head coach of Amakhosi.
Senzo Sambo started a petition which has over 8000 signatures, with frustrated Amakhosi supporters wanting the Soweto giants to sack Baxter. As things stand, Amakhosi look set to finish another campaign without a trophy in the cabinet.
The supporters are doing the petition knowing that there is a big chance that they will be ignored by Amakhosi management.
"This petition started on a Twitter space. We were talking about taking action, so I thought it would be better if I create a petition. It actually did more than I expected. I did not expect so many signatures. The reason I started the petition is that things are bad. The team is playing without direction. It's hard to watch Kaizer Chiefs play, to be honest. Sometimes you wonder why you waste your time watching them because the performances are below par," Sambo told Soccer Laduma.
"The reason we started supporting Chiefs was because of the style of play and for winning trophies. We understand that every team goes through a rough patch, but we expect a team like Chiefs to have a clear rebuilding structure. The way we play is not exciting at all. We are playing rubbish and I can't settle for that. We can't settle like we are a mid-table team. I am expecting the petition to reach 10 000.
"If the team does not listen, they should at least know that the supporters of this team are concerned. Obviously, they will think this one is crazy, but they must know that the supporters tried. We will submit the petition and see how they react to it. Keeping the head coach is up to them. We can't dictate how they run their club."
Masilo Machaka, a long time Amakhosi supporter, agrees with how the Amakhosi supporters have handled the petition.
"When fans are not satisfied and they do something peacefully, I will always say let it be. They are not bothering or fighting with anyone. They are just concerned supporters. We thought the performance of Chiefs would improve, but you can see there is no chance we will win the league. That means Chiefs won't achieve anything this season, so it's a concern for all of us. The performance of the team is very poor," Machaka said.
"The Chiefs position is hot and it's burning Baxter. We did not do coaching courses, but we can see the reality. At Chiefs, we don't fire a coach. If a coach can see it's not working out, he goes. Muhsin Ertugral, who is still my friend, would see that things are not working out and he would go. I am happy that the fans are doing this peacefully and they are raising their concerns. You can't take supporters for granted."
