European Striker Enters Chiefs' Wanted List?

European Striker Enters Chiefs' Wanted List?

NELSPRUIT, SOUTH AFRICA - DECEMBER 16: Dzenan Zajmovic of TS Galaxy FC during the Betway Premiership match between TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs at Mbombela Stadium on December 16

Kaizer Chiefs' quest to bolster their attacking options continues, with the club understood to be looking at a European striker who recently became available on the PSL market.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi are determined to strengthen their striking department with at least one more experienced forward before the transfer window closes.

Insiders close to the club with access to reliable information have indicated that Chiefs are believed to be considering Belgian-Bosnian striker Dzenan Zajmovic, though his potential arrival hinges on the outcome of other transfer pursuits.

"I can tell you he is one of the strikers the club is currently looking at. Yes, he was not on the list at first but soon after TS Galaxy let him go, then it's believed the scouts and recruiters started looking at him together with analysts. All is good and he is on the team's radar for wanted strikers with talks believed to be going on and looking positive. A move is on the cards and it could happen," the source told Soccer Laduma.

However, a second insider clarified that Zajmovic is not necessarily the club's primary target, suggesting his signing depends on Chiefs' ability to secure another striker.

"The interest in him is there. But the first choice is believed to be (Etiosa) Ighodaro and if that doesn't happen then they want Dzenan Zajmovic to be ready and available and that's why it's believed they are talking to him. So the possibilities are high at the moment though it's 50/50," the second insider told the Siya crew.

Soccer Laduma reported what Amakhosi need to do to sign Ighodaro in what is becoming a complicated chase, which requires patience.

The 30-year-old European striker joined TS Galaxy at the beginning of the 2024/25 season and made a good impact, netting goals for the Rockets before his recent release.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment regarding their interest in Zajmovic but received no official response at the time of publishing.
