Before sustaining his injury, the former Stellenbosch FC player was one of Amakhosi's biggest threats in attack, but they've missed his presence, especially with his pace and ability to eliminate opposition defenders with his trickery.
Johnson has used Ranga Chivaviro as his main striker since taking charge as interim coach, but Amakhosi have missed the presence of an attacking player with the pace and ability to finish like Du Preez.
Indications are that Du Preez, who has three goals in all competitions this season for the Soweto giants, could be back before the end of the year, as Amakhosi look to finish 2023 in a good position, to give themselves some hope of having a better campaign than they did last time.
Chiefs will be back in action this weekend when they take on Polokwane City in the Premiership this weekend. City have shown great resilience since making a return to the top flight, but have faced the challenge of losing head coach Lehlohonolo Seema to Sekhukhune United.
