Cavin Johnson's Kaizer Chiefs squad went into the FIFA break with their confidence down having suffered defeat to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby. Having had a two-week break, Soccer Laduma takes a look inside Amakhosi's preparations for yet another derby.
The international break hasn't been kind to Johnson it appears. The coach has three internationals in his squad and one of Chiefs' key players in Thatayaone Ditlhokwe returned to Naturena with a shoulder injury, something that will be a concern as the Botswana international has started every match for Chiefs since his switch from SuperSport United.
The Return of Du Preez…
Chiefs will be hoping to have striker Ashley Du Preez back in the squad. The 26-year-old has been out with injury and has missed four of Chiefs' last matches in all competitions. His presence has been missed as he gives the Glamour Boys a different dimension with his speed and hard work.
Johnson To Implement His Tactics
Johnson has been hellbent on returning to the 'Chiefs way' and what that entails remains to be seen. There has been glimpses of a positive display for Chiefs against Cape Town Spurs; however, it came undone against Pirates. The veteran coach will be looking to fine-tune his tactics ahead of a tricky Moroka Swallows clash.
Luke Fleurs To Get His Chance?
With Ditlhokwe struggling with injury, fans might get to see the club's new signing Luke Fleurs in action on Sunday. The 23-year-old is yet to feature since making the switch from SuperSport United. Having spent the last month acclimatizing to his new teammates, it will come as very little of a surprise if Fleurs is included in the matchday squad.
