Castillo Reveals Adaptation To Chiefs & Life In South Africa

Speaking to the media through interpreter and teammate George Matlou, Castillo acknowledged the impact of language and environment on his slow start in South African football. However, he emphasizes his growing acclimation to life as a player for one of the biggest teams in Africa which had led to a national team recall during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

"Yes, I am enjoying my game here. I knew even before I came here that Kaizer Chiefs are a big team not only in South Africa but in Africa as well. But the first few months were a bit difficult for me because I had to adjust in many things including language and the general environment," Castillo told the media.

"But as soon as I overcame that then things started working for me, so much so, that I started scoring goals for the team and was also recalled to my national team. You now even know I am getting classes to learn English so that I can communicate easily with my teammates as well as the technical team.

"But at least I am settling in very well now and it's helping me a lot. Also my teammates have been welcoming me and they have helped me settle down very well," the Venezuelan international concluded.

Castillo's journey embodies resilience and adaptation. He successfully navigated the initial challenges and emerged as a key contributor, his dedication evident in his English language classes.

Castillo's story offers a valuable perspective on the challenges faced by foreign players adjusting to new leagues and cultures from South America to Africa. His perseverance and willingness to adapt are testaments to his professionalism and commitment to his craft that goes beyond the football field.

As he continues to thrive on the field, Castillo's impact will serve as an inspiration for other South American footballers to progress their careers in South Africa's PSL.
