Solomons Grateful For Chiefs Lifeline

Solomons Grateful For Chiefs Lifeline

After sporadic bouts of game time throughout the campaign, Dillan Solomons has been handed a lifeline towards the latter stages of the 2023/24 season and he is reveling in the opportunity.

Prior to his four-match streak for Chiefs, Solomons had featured just six times this season, with all of his opportunities coming from the substitute's bench.

This had led to talk of a possible exit from Naturena, albeit on loan in search of regular game time elsewhere.

However, it appears that there has been a change of heart towards Solomons from the club's interim coach Cavin Johnson, which has seen him feature regularly for Amakhosi in their last four games.

Solomons has featured in consecutive matches against Moroka Swallows, Golden Arrows, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City and looks to have cemented his place as the club's current right-back option.

"Obviously as a player you want to play as much games as you, as you can. But for me it was just about patience. Obviously there are players in my position that was doing well and now that the coach is asking me to do different jobs, it shows that I'm vulnerable and I can do the jobs, you know, that he needs me to do and to have the support of the supporters, it means the world to me, you know, it gives me that edge, gives me the fire. So hopefully I can make them happier," he told journalists at the club's media open day ahead of their clash against Stellenbosch.

"It's really helpful for me to get minutes. You know, everybody wants to play minutes. Everybody wants to play every game, you know, and for me it's just about using the minutes I get, you know, just to impact the team positively and not look back, you know, whatever happened, happened. You know, I'm here now to try and help the team win games and that's most important for me," he continued.
