Johnson Praises Chiefs Attackers After Stalemate

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson had some praise for his attacking front four after the goalless draw against Cape Town City.

Chiefs were unable to bounce back from the Soweto Derby loss after securing a point at the Athlone Stadium on Saturday.

Johnson felt his side should have walked away with maximum points on the day.

"I thought we should have won the game, I thought we had a good first and second half, we missed quite a few opportunities too many but you know what, from the last game we played, the energy that we put in the derby," Johnson said on SuperSport TV.

"The energy that this team put in today, I think it is just climbing. We couldn't score the goal but we'll probably get it right next time

"Thanks to the fans for coming out, they gave us a good welcome in Cape Town but I thought we should have won the game," he said.

Despite not getting on the score-sheet, Johnson praised his attackers overall display.

"Look, I thought the front four in Wandile (Duba), Ashley (Du Preez), Pule (Mmodi) and Shabba (Mduduzi Shabalala), they did very well, they did well in both transitions, in attack and defence and for that we have to give them credit," he said.

"But again, we keep a clean-sheet, which is normal for us this time but we should have scored the goal," he added.
