South African middle-distance runner Caster Semenya has spoken glowingly about her love for Kaizer Chiefs and their chairman Kaizer Motaung Sr, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.
The winner of two Olympic gold medals has revealed that her father had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go and try out at the Soweto giants and only to be denied in doing so by injury.

Semenya says the management style of Amakhosi is inspiring to her, which is what has been the reason for her love and continued support for the club over the years.
"My favourite PSL team is Kaizer Chiefs. Why? We grew up in a family where we were introduced into that, and it is more like culture. About the model of the team, in the olden days they used to have great players that you would resonate with. Those were the players that you would look up to and for me the love has always been there. I always had that love for the whole family," said Semenya.

"I always like family businesses where kids get involved and be taught about business and how to run it. But I would say that my dad brought me close to the Kaizer Chiefs family. Back in the day, the club used to be known as Kaizer XI and my dad was supposed to go for trials at the club but he couldn't because of injury.
"They wanted to give my father that opportunity to showcase his talent and that's why I have so much love for the family. I have so much love for Baba Kaizer Motaung," she said.
Semenya recently released her book, The Race To Be Myself on the former world champion's journey 'to run free' and her activism.
