Zwane: Chiefs Should Have Been Awarded A Penalty

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane felt his side should have been awarded a penalty in the second half against Sekhukhune United.

The Soweto giants missed the chance to move second on the DStv Premiership after going down 1-0 to Brandon Truter's charges on Saturday night.

Zwane noted the amount of chances his side created on the day, but admits it wasn't meant to be.

"Ja look, I think we started a bit sluggish, we gained momentum, had control of the game though we played in patches, we created quite a few chances first-half we could capitalize on, we couldn't take them," Zwane told SuperSport after the game.

"Second-half when you look at the way we conceded again, sometimes these things when they happen you ask yourself questions.

"But I can't faulter the boys, the effort, when you look at them, the pitch also didn't make our lives easy, it was a bit soft and bumpy but when you look at the number of chances that we created, we could have maybe buried them, unfortunately today it wasn't to be," he said.

Zwane felt the substitutions in the second half improved the side going forward.

"We were actually on the front foot as well just after introducing 'Ash' (Ashley Du Preez) and the young Mduduzi (Shabalala), Sekgota as well, we wanted to put them under pressure and force them to make mistakes," he carried on.

"And we did force them to make mistakes we were just unfortunate and I believe one, there was a penalty there when Caleb (Bimenyimana) was charging towards the ball and he was pulled.

"Unfortunately the referee did not see it and it's one of those things. I think the boys tried, against the run of play we conceded we shouldn't have because it was from out mistake again," he added.
