Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has accused his players of taking Swallows lightly after their loss on Monday afternoon.

Goals from Gregory Damons and Bongani Sam guided Swallows to a 2-1 victory over Amakhosi at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, which also sealed their top-flight status.

The Chiefs tactician felt that his side were punished for their mentalilty at the start of the encounter.

"Ja, like I said when you look at first half and second-half it tells you about taking some games lightly, we started slow, conceded early in the game because of sloppy defending, we paid the price," Zwane said on SuperSport TV.

"Then we got a wake up call, we looked like we can take the game to them, controlled the tempo of the game and then we got a goal from a set-play but still we were not moving enough, we were not mobile enough in terms of creating space for others to exploit.

"We were waiting for the ball to come to us and since they formed a block, they will always gonn be difficult to penetrate the block. Then we conceded from a dead ball situation, actually we were lucky not to concede twice from those set-plays, so ja," he said.

"If we concede from standard situations like that and when we get the opportunity, how many did we get? We couldn't find the target, we hit the upright, then we got one v one with Wandi  (Wandile Duba ), I believe we had other chances as well," he went on.

"Then second-half it was only one team playing but we paid the price of taking this game lightly or taking it for granted from first half and now we ended up chasing the game."
