With player agreements between Kaizer Chiefs and Swallows FC now a common thread, the Siya crew looks at some of the most notable deals in recent times.
The most recent is that of Swallows trio, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Dillon Solomons and George Matlou, whose signings were officially announced by Amakhosi late on Monday evening.
The trio join Amakhosi on, two-year, three-year and four-year deals respectively, having successfully helped Swallows maintain their topflight status in the relegation/promotion play-offs.
Swallows was also the preferred destination for two of Chiefs' signed players for the 2020/21 season during the period where the club had received a two-window transfer ban from FIFA. Sifiso Hlanti and Kgaogelo Sekgota, who were already Chiefs players, spent the season with the Birds.
In addition, Chiefs have also allowed their fringe players to get much-needed game-time at Swallows, with Given Thibedi and Yagan Sasman, who scored the crucial goal to keep the Birds in the topflight, spending the season on loan, while the likes of Itumeleng Shopane, Ayanda Rorwana and Sizwe Twala were also offloaded to Swallows in the past.
It is likely that the mutually beneficial relationship between the two Soweto clubs is set to continue for a long time to come if the recent transfer activity is anything to go by.
