The story

Social media has been abuzz since reports of Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena, parting ways with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, circulated on the timeline on Thursday.

Following a string of underwhelming results for the former African champions, including a run of six successive draws in the Botola Pro League, which has Wydad six points adrift of second place, Rulani’s impending exit from the club seems to be accelerated.

The 38-year-old is set to bring an end to his nine-month stint in North Africa, having joined Wydad following his dismissal by Sundowns last season, despite guiding them to the Betway Premiership title.

While Wydad have yet to issue an official statement, Moroccan sports media have confirmed Mokwena's exit on Friday.

Mokwena, who had been contracted to the club until 2027, had already indicated earlier this month that he intended to leave at the end of the season.

Here's how the fans reacted on the timeline to the latest regarding Rulani:

Rulani has been tipped to replace Jose Riveiro at the Buccaneers next season, which has seen plenty of debate from Pirates fans online:
