The story
Stellies slatwart, Lee Langeveldt baked up a storm in the second episode of the club's "Taste the love..." cooking show in collaboration with jersey sponsors, Rama.
The veteran goalkeeper, who will be finishing 20 years as a professional footballer next year, was tasked with baking "captain's scones" despite being proficient in making muffins.
Langeveldt told host Mack Rapapali about his childhood in Stellenbosch, his first sporting love being cricket due to his cousin, ex-Proteas bowler Charl Langeveldt.
He also spoke about his move to Denmark to join FC Copenhagen's reserves, a three-year stint that was followed by a memorable time at Santos FC, where he made his name in top-flight PSL football from 2007 until 2014.
Along with revealing that he initially started out as a right-back, Langeveldt chatted about his hospitality and catering business venture.
"I'm learning everyday," stated Langeveldt, who admitted that his accommodation business is going along nicely.
"Why accommodation? Well Stellies is a student town and accommodation in town is very expensive. Some students come to Idas Valley and Cloetesville to look for something cheaper, so that was reason basically, to start my accommodation business," said Lee while mixing eggs, flour and butter for his scones.
The 37-year-old has strawberries, cream and jam to dress his scones for judges Liam Bekker (Stellies media manager) and the show's producer Carmen.
Both judges scored Lee a 7/10 for visual presentation, while Carmen gave him a 10/10 for the taste test and Bekker awarding Langeveldt with a healthy score of 9/10.
